Firepower Museum Woolwich

Now that that the Docklands Light Railway goes under the Thames to Woolwich, the bus journey from the O2 is gone and all the better for it. Top Tip, get an Oyster Card, it makes life much easier.


If you want Firepower.		Not sure but a bit scary.

And up close.		The museum entrance.

Gate guardian.		Honest John.

The main hall.		Thunderbird and mobile Rapier.

Truck mounted Bofors.		Sexton.

Abbott 105mm.		Light guns.

6 and 17 pounder anti tank guns.		And the big guns.

Big from the rear.		Where it all started.

Anti aircraft.		Up and down.

The second hall – FV432.		What they do for anti aircraft.

What we do for anti aircraft.		And what we used to do for anti aircraft.

And the Gunners love this. It tracks birds.		Centurion.

Cold and Big.		Never made it into service.

AS90		105mm light gun.

And thanks to the two RA Gunners who showed me through the second hall.

This is the third year in a row, I have done Belgium in November. This year it’s via a two day stop in London and the Eurostar. It started on Bonfire Night morning in the pouring South Wales rain. The John Wallace Linton in Newport. A FGW 125 to Paddington. A pint of 5 AM Saint in the Beer House at Paddington. On the the Hammersmith and City line to Kings Cross and a quick visit to Fullers – The Parcel Yard.

Should be MTP but is rather wet DPM		Newport International

Where they have trains		FGW 125 TV coach to London

Rather expensive FGW cheese and onion sarnie		London – Paddington

The Beer House		Where they serve Scottish craft ale.

The bar – free Wifi		Kings Cross

Quality Pubbage		With lots of Fullers brews
