This video might not even see the light of the day due to the background music. Anyway, The Otley Brewpub’s Oct O Bar Fest 2025. Cask Ale is not dead and Craft Cask Ale is still a thing. No WiFi and a mechanical Till. These are now things. Also, used cash.

Oct-O-Bar 2019

It’s the end of October 2019 and it was time for Oct-O-Bar 2019 at The Otley Arms in Treforest. It rained a lot and there was flooding. However the Ales were Fine and they were all cask. CAMRA members turned out too. Good times and Mary showed up too.

High Chairs and Termites in Dorchester

I have a real soft spot for Dorchester. It’s a great town and it’s part of West Dorset CAMRA’s demise. It was and still is a Beer Town, so is always worth a visit.

Dorchester - Brewery Square

The local Spoons The Royal Oak – rear entrance

The Royal Oak - Wetherspoons

And from the Front

The Royal Oak - Front - Wetherspoons

My favourite tables along the wall are now high tables, I’m not sure why. Anyway, always a friendly welcome here. Opens at 08:00, Bar opens at 09:00.

The view from the High Table

All tastes are covered for in Dorchester. Me, I think The Teddy Bear Museum is the way to go.

Street Sign in Dorchester

I’m not sure what happened to Tom Browns? It used to the Tap for the Dorset Brewing Co but now it seems to be a semi open bring your own food Greene King Pub. A bit of a shame. However The Blue Raddle is just around the corner.

Tom Browns - Ex DBC Pub?

A Good Sign. A Very Good Sign.

The Blue Raddle

A traditional Pub with traditional opening hours. However with covers of Private Eye on the walls of the Gents. Reminds me of the days when Spoons used to have The Daily Telegraph on the walls of the Gents.

What more could you ask for and yes the WiFi was good, free and not captive portal. The Ales and Ciders were pretty good too.

The bar of The Blue Raddle

I have to be honest, this is my favourite Pub in Dorchester. Great and varied selection of both cask ales and bottles and cans. Great people who run it. Very clean toilets and wonderful punters.

The Convivial Rabbit - Micro Pub

Be nice to the Termites, they love Cask Ale too

The Convivial Rabbit - Bar and Chalk Board

Termite Sign

They have Jugs too.

Half Pint Jug

And I haven’t mentioned Goldies or the Brewhouse and Kitchen. The sun shone in Dorchester too.
