The mb01 Journal – Hereford January 2023
In which the Journal starts even before the Beano start. Training in The Malcolm Uphill, Caerphilly and having my first Curry of the year. CES2023 monitoring as well. That’s what you do in January. CES 2023 goes into farming. The Petrol is cheaper in Hereford and I get a Costa Reward for a free hot drink. 99p Guest Ales in the Kings Fee and overdoing it with Cobs in The Orange Tree. It’s a quality Mini Beano so far. Poor planning and places being shut mean it’s a return to The Orange Tree and more Cobs. Continued to rain.

The lots of Weather Saturday. Coffee was large, no actually huge. Local Cask Ale in The Kings Fee but no Wild Beer Co cans. Spotted a Birthday Beer Pack in the @hfdbeerhouse for a friend and it is now being delivered. 10% off my bill for tagging, just like @bragdytwtlol All I need is another 2p on my nectar card for another AirTag.
Free Coffee and Tagging
There was a lot of overnight weather and well into the day as well. It turned out that the free hot drink included the large drinks as well. So a huge hit of Caffeine and a paid for Bacon Roll as well. The Kings Fee has run out of Wild Beer Co Cans forever. 10% off in @hfdbeerhouse for tagging. Gets a Birthday Gift Pack. Quality Glassware.

The Full moon was no help at all. Hereford was cooler, dry and less windy. Petrol was £145.9. A crazed Costa door and a reward for a hot drink for Saturday. Pay Store on Fire HD 8+ 10th Generation. 99p a Pint for Guest Ales. Then in a Jug. The Orange Tree where I over did it on the Cobs and of course I had an early night.
Cheaper and Free
The first Beano of the year and the Petrol is much cheaper in Hereford and I win a Costa reward for a free hot drink. Spoons January Sale means the Guest Ales are only 99p a Pint. Nothing like that “Here in Wales”. The Orange Tree, late Cobs arrival. However Fine Cask Ales. Two Cobs are really filling, aren’t they?
Cheaper Petrol and Beer
06 January 2023
Back in the Beano saddle for 2023. The Beer House is only open on the Saturday (10% off for tagging them on Social Media), so it’s more of the Beer In Hand and The Orange Tree. Lots of Daily Tech News Show #CES2023 coverage on the way up.

And just across the road, a sign that I shouldn’t have filled up before I left. 2023 is going to be one of those years.

Things started to look up when I was given an app voucher for a hot drink in Costa Coffee tomorrow.

The Town Centre and on the way to The Kings Fee (Wetherspoon)

99p a Pint for Guest Ales. Helps with the Post Christmas spending.

Moving on to The Orange Tree, in need of Cobs.

Might, actually completely over did it with two cobs.

Opens at 12:00, seven days a week. Classic Pub.

Sometimes you just can’t get a contact lens in. Other days both go straight in. Bought some second class stamps, 68p each. Yes, No. Used my Bean for a free Coffee in Costa. The tree now has lights. Have Spoons turned their heating off? Hazy Jane when the cask is meh! The Imperial, difficult to login to WiFi. Need to be back to the Hereford Beer House more often. Big Twitter Rauchbier hit.
2nd Class Stamps
A rainy Saturday (again) but not as bad as back home. Aren’t 2nd class stamps expensive? When all else fails on the cask ale front it’s time for Hazy Jane. The Imperial, reduced cask but your basic sports bar plus food. Why did I leave it so long before returning to The Hereford Beer House. Jonny showed up as well. Rauchbiers.

It’s been since June and with a dry start but with spray. Not keen on dipped headlights. Hereford is Christmasy but there are no lights on the tree. Costa Coffee and Bacon. Almost no Luxury, Festive Mince Pies. Wales were awful and Senegal are now the boys. The Orange Tree is first class and their Cobs at £2.50 are huge. Didn’t quite make The Beer in Hand.
England and Wales
Starting without my wake up coffee is mainly a sign of my age. However, Pro Plus a half hour before I leave to keep me on my A game. Costa then the Kings Fee for the Wales match. West Midlands craft cans but sadly no Luxury, Festive Mince Pies. Wales were poor and Iran deserved to win. The Orange Tree is a must visit and the £2.50 cobs are excellent. I’m supporting Senegal now.
