Cold, Snow and Festive – Cwrw17 December 2022

22/12/2022 Leave a comment

Had to use my backup bus as the Graig-y-Rhacca bus yet again didn’t show up. Caerphilly at just above freezing but still had a lot more snow than Bedwas. A Festive Mice Pie and a Pint of Cwrw to start the day in The Malcom Uphill. And then it all got Hazy in the form of Hazy Jane. Downhill all the way once I reached Brew Monster. Some Discord live chat too.

Brew Monster Taproom – September 2022

It’s not all about the beers, it’s about the welcome, the ambience and of course the WiFi. This is where the Brew Monster Taproom really scores. Additionally it is in the centre of town with good public transport links. Now if I could only get them to open at 09:00 on a Saturday morning? Well, I can dream.

Fast WiFi, good access to Public Transport (when it runs) ands the Finest of Fine Ales. Saturdays from 12:00 and an excellent view into the Brew Hall.  Shadowfax, a Belgian Pale Ale to start, 6.0 ABV and a we3ll deserved B++.  Jinmenju, a Blackberry and Mango Pale Ale, lovely mouthfeel, fruity, full bodied and slightly sour. Really rather good, 4.8% ABV B++.  Hafermann, a Mosiac Cryo Pale Ale weighing in at at 4.1% and very sessionable.  Complex, hoppy, bitter and sweet and very drinkable. Happy B++.

England has Plan B and Wales has Political Banter and a vague mask mandate. Caerphilly, Pontypridd and Treforest. More Festive Ales with silly names. Making the most of it while I still can.

Without a Bridge

A good start to the Beano with two unique pints in the Malcolm Uphill. Classic Public Service on the Stagecoach bus to Pontypridd. A great pint of Digger’s Gold by Grey Trees in The Rickards Arms in Treforest. Cask rising no doubt? Swarm App told me that I hadn’t been in The Otley Arms since January 2020. I raised a glass from Polly’s Brew Co to an Absent Friend. No Apple Pay but I’m coping like the wind. A great day and now with Tesco sarnies to finish.
