On Time Thursday

An early start but English trains are larger and on time, if not early. Maybe my last visit to the up for sale Postal Order in Worcester. You know you are having a good time when the time just disappears. But it’s good.

Opening times, I’m turning into Retired Martin, however Bacon Baguette. Hoplord ever more Awesome than last time. I need to speed more time there and the Plough, Obvs.

It got hot, it got very hot. A little bit of a German & Belgian Fine Ale session in Hop Lords and then an air conned train. Summer Beanoing, make the most of it while you can.

Brewing By The Railway

Grey but mild and only two spaces left in the Travelodge car park. Happy Costa Bacon and Coffee to start the day. The Kings Fee where they are testing the new Chicken menu. Different train apps and very different ways of working. However FTTC, so Winning there.

Of course the Transport for Wales Class 175 was late however the Ludlow Brewery is only 100 yards from the Station. Traditional in outlook, however Cask forward and with Derailed brewing as their Keg subsidiary.

Of course the train was late returning to Hereford. Checking into my overnighter and then did some work work. Back out to The Beer in Hand Hereford. Excellent beer retreat but needs WiFi and to open earlier. Well past my bed time.

The end of August and the Bank Holiday weekend and I’m only on #mb02. Cooler morning but Summer is most certainly back. Hereford, Ludlow and Worcester and many Fine Ales. Grey but dry. It was an early morning yesterday.

Commercial Street Newport Costa Coffee still not open at 07:00, despite what the Costa Website says. However the Costa at the station opens at 06:00 and the lady behind the counter was excellent. Started in The John Wallace Linton, where the Hazy Jane (my Breakfast Beer of choice) was in plentiful supply.

The Pen And Wig (Newport – Dog Friendly) for 10:02. The joy of it being back to the way it was pre Rhona, Cask and Citra to boot.

Chip shops can be tricky on a Monday, so it was Plan B and 50p more to boot. However a good sized portion and just around the corner from Tiny Rebel.

Speaking of which. In the corner by the power and now next to the organic back wall. Nothing better than slowly drinking the afternoon away. Solid Monday.

The Early Republic

Rain all day with a Thunderstorm alert. The Great British Summer at it’s very best. I’d forgotten how fast The Sir Samuel Romilly’s (Barry Spoons) WiFi was. So the Saturday Wrap went up in 1080p. Left The Sir Sam at 10:50 hoping to get in The Craft Republic at 11:00. Turns out it is 12:00 that they open. However they have a Steam Railway next door. Returned to The Sir Sam to drink Cask Ale from Llantrisant.

12:00, still raining, Steam Train gone and an awesome welcome from the Craft Republic staff. The Goodsheds WiFi was working but it is very slow. ThreeUK, some signal but again very slow. In the end I ended up tethering to my Tesco SIM, which was rather good. Lot’s of the finest of Fine Ales, yet another T-shirt and a rather no fun journey back home on the train. Planning a non weekend visit to Craft Republic.

Garden – August 2021

They say that August is the wettest summer month and August 2021 has certainly proved that to be correct. It’s actually raining as I write this and it’s stopping me from taking the video and photos. So, what happened since the last update, well mainly Potatoes and Cucumbers. The various varieties of Potatoes made great chips but I was rather disappointing by the yield, both in size and actual cropping. Still, I’m going to blame the poor Spring. Cucumbers, which were well hidden under their leaves have grown and are still growing rather large. No need to buy any. Still, they are a little bit bitter, compared to shop bought. The 2022 Summer Onions have been ordered and should arrive at the end of September. The 2021 crop is currently being eaten and it is a good if not great crop. The Peppers which are indoors, are coming on rather well. All in all, a bit of a mixed garden bag.
