20240223 Prelude mb03 Hereford February 24
In a week of rain and now rain and cold. It’s only Beanos that keep me going. The A40 eastbound has now reopened, albeit just one lane. A later start means, travelling in daylight and not really missing out on much.
Big roadworks in Monmouth but no one seemed to be working. Dry until I parked up in Hereford and then it started to rain. Sainsbury, Costa and Cask Ale and Filled Rolls in The Orange Tree. All going to plan.
20230311 mb03 Day 01 Wrap
Looking out of the window to see frost on the car windscreens. So it was a two water bottles on the dash day. Some light snow flurries on the journey up and it was mostly light from Monmouth onwards. Costa Coffee and Bacon Rolls to start, then a Fruit based drink while The Prelude uploaded. Happy Birthday from Cloudwater in The Hereford Beer House. Exchanging a Bag for Life in Tesco and then the Beano is over.
Flurries and a Voucher
We are well it to March and it is still Winter. Frost, hot water bottles on the dash and snow flurries on the journey up. Nicely light from from Monmouth onwards but still at 0c when I arrived at Hereford. CAMRA vouchers at the ready. Steamy windows in the Beer House and yet again I wish it was more than one Day. A light frost and snow flurries start to mb03 and a chance to bring my count number up to the month number. It was light from Monmouth onwards and what a joy that was. Apart from that it’s the standard Hereford one day plan but with a £5.00 discount voucher for The Hereford Beer House.

The Other Optimised Start
Start the day with a Premier Inn all you can eat. Remember that Costa Coffee and Premier Inn are owned by the same people. Search for a Pub to start the day. That’s where Spoons was so handy. In the end it was Pennies which used to be a Spoons.
On and mostly up to The King & Castle as the rain continued to fall. It was very warm and the POS system and WiFi were down. However a great welcome. Luckily the train station next door had a cash point. So the Fine Ale drinking continued.
A Chippy open on a Sunday and a Real Ale Bar on the way to The Bear & Wolf. It’s all saying second visit. Maybe with a later start?
