Garden – October 2021
The main thing, all of October and no frost. Infact, quite mild and some days rather hot. Lots of rain and some flooding. The Hedge is on the turn and due to the weather, the outside Peppers are still going strong. Some issues with the lawn mainly due to overfeeding and weed killer, however it is still nice and green. The Summer Onions are coming along well and the main garden needs digging (again). Everything is going to slow down from now on.
Garden – September 2021
Autumn is here and so is the September high pressure. Grey in the morning and sunny and warm in the afternoon. A spot of Delta Summer (as it is now called) is on the way. Garden wise, everything has gone growth crazy and all the tomato pots have tipped over. Home made lettuce, cucumbers and tomatoes for tea most night. The indoor Peppers are the way forward, if for no other reason than they are not eaten by pests. The lawn mower seems to be eating the lawn. There must be a sign there somewhere. And now 2021 is beginning to slip away.
Garden – August 2021
They say that August is the wettest summer month and August 2021 has certainly proved that to be correct. It’s actually raining as I write this and it’s stopping me from taking the video and photos. So, what happened since the last update, well mainly Potatoes and Cucumbers. The various varieties of Potatoes made great chips but I was rather disappointing by the yield, both in size and actual cropping. Still, I’m going to blame the poor Spring. Cucumbers, which were well hidden under their leaves have grown and are still growing rather large. No need to buy any. Still, they are a little bit bitter, compared to shop bought. The 2022 Summer Onions have been ordered and should arrive at the end of September. The 2021 crop is currently being eaten and it is a good if not great crop. The Peppers which are indoors, are coming on rather well. All in all, a bit of a mixed garden bag.

Garden – July 2021
I have to be honest, I hate weeding. However, I am doing weeding but the amount I am removing seems to be much less than the new weed growth. Still, the battle continues. The first baby Tomato has appeared and dependant on the weather, it’s out with the watering can every day. The first of the bagged Potatoes (Premier) are almost ready and it will be home grown chips before the end of the month. Lemon Basil is lovely.
Garden – June 2021
Where April started, May completed and it was a cold wash out as well. June has actually introduced Summer and I find myself hoping for more overnight rain. So due to May, everything planted out is at least two weeks behind. The earlies are just showing the first signs of flowering and it’s out with the watering can every morning to keep things going. The first of the bush tomatoes were planted out ten minutes before the video was taken and the Cucumbers will be following then spoon. The weeds in the garden are a constant headache and I’m pulling them up every night, not that you can tell.

Garden – May 2021
April was cold and dry and it delayed most of my planting. The things that were planted, mostly the Premier in bags haven’t been damaged but their growth has been slowed. The end of April and into May has been changeable but still cold. My replacement Strawberry plants arrived and are now growing if somewhat slowly.
One Friday in April it was raining so I put the weed and feed on. Two problems, I put too much on and it immediately stopped raining. Repairs are plan for May Day Bank Holiday Monday. All the holes in the garden are now filled Premier and Blue Danube. The rains came and the garden is now completely covered in weeds. When the potatoes push through it will be all out weeding.
