Well, it took a long time but Autumn is now over and the cold of Winter has arrived. Sunny, cold and chilling winds from the North. The weeds are dying back, the lawn has had it’s last mow of the year and I’m emptying the pots of their compost. The Green Summer Onions are coming on well with the red ones following slowly behind. I’ve got some rather nice Spring Onions indoors but they are not going to last very long. It will soon be seed buying time again.

February, the month for snow at the end of it. However we have already had early February snow and we are now entering The Beast From The East 2. I little hedge trimming and the lawn is looking green after being fed and the moss killer has done a good job. The Big News of the Month is that the Seed Potatoes have arrived and Chitting has started. First Earlies Premier, Second Earlies Casablanca and Early Maincrop Blue Danube. Spring ahead I hope?

Garden – January 2021

The second month of Winter and it’s post a hard overnight frost. It’s supposed to get a little warmer later so I might mow the top off the lawn and then feed it. Seeds ordered and have arrived, Potatoes ordered and due to arrive at the end of the month. Planning to dig the garden in February if the weather is willing. All rather quiet on the garden front.
