Belgian and Bristol
Looking out of the window and seeing all the parked cars frosted up. Two hot water bottles on the dash, half an hour better I left. No frost in Portishead and three guest ales in The Posset Cup.
It was a bit sunny. The Siren’s Calling was all Belgian and Bristol Ales. Rather expensive chips from next door as well. Tech support and Red Sky at night. Good 2024 times.
20230622 mb09 Day 01 Wrap
You leave earlier than you need to, to avoid the M4 traffic. You sit in the carpark at the Portishead Premier Inn and watch the world go by. 07:00, a Sainsbury’s meal deal for breakfast. 08:00, The Posset Cup for a fruit based drink and a bottle of Welsh Water before some Fine Ales. Curry Thursday despite there being a World Mango Chutney shortage. When you discover the Siren’s Calling doesn’t open until 16:00 on a Thursday. Back to The Posset Cup for a Doombar then check into The Premier Inn.
Planned and Planning
When do you plan your departure so that you don’t get stuck with all the motorway traffic, that’s a quality plan. When you turn up at The Siren’s Call just after 13:00 and you see that they don’t open two until 16:00 on a Thursday. That’s a total lack of planning. Anyway, it was breakfast meal deal from Sainsbury’s and then straight into The Posset Cup for 08:00, some orange juice and some bottled water which was from Brecon. Then a couple of pints, a can and a Curry Thursday. It wasn’t so bad, anyway returned back to the Posset Cup for a pint of Doombar. Then checked in to the Premier Inn.
20230617 Prelude mb09 Portishead June 23
An Optimised Traffic departure and because there are no early opening, nearby Coffee Shops in Portishead. Then, a Sainsbury’s meal deal sitting in the car. 08:00 in the cool of The Posset Cup and at 11:30 a Curry Thursday. All afternoon in The Siren’s Calling.
The mb05 Journal – Portishead 2023
When it was dark, it was calm and clear. When it was light, it was foggy. Especially past Newport on the M4. Portishead is really rather nice and it has an iBis and Lidl in the same building. The Marina is really rather nice with the fog.
The Posset Cup and The Siren’s Calling. Both fine and just the places to muse about the world. Throw in a Premier Inn all your can eat Breakfast and you have a superb Beano. I need to go back and soon.
20230430 mb05 Day 02 Wrap
After getting up I looked out of the window and it was Red Sky Shepherds warning. Half and hour later it was raining. At 07:00 for breakfast it had eased off but it was still day. It was a Brewer’s Fayre and they had the old style conveyor belt toast maker and it was spot on first time. New craft cans in The Posset Cup and they are both winners.
Gentle rain on the way to The Siren’s Calling. More YouTube comments, this one why did my Prelude appear in his recommendations. Mild and ESB to start, both on Cask. And to end a Cantillon Gueuze.
