Cold Pubs and Buses

21/11/2020 Leave a comment
It’s the little things that matter, like being on the 50 bus, travelling towards Newport in the dark. Costa Coffee and Bacon Rolls and sitting in the corner in Pubs. Some things are still different, Pubs and Buses are cold, doors and windows are off to provide fresh, non stagnant air. Places open later because more people are working from home and there are less frequent buses and trains.
Christmas trees are be put up all over and our leaders are deciding what the actual cost will be.  Me I just thankful for Beanoing.

Safer In The Lion

Train delays that this time did not work in my favour. Lot’s of weather but relatively mild for November. You can’t beat a Costa Coffee Bacon roll and that plus a Cappuccino is a great start to the day. Another Spoons, another sign in. NHS or fill it in yourself, I choose the later. The rest was app based. Almost came away with a raffle ticket for a Big, Big Ted but didn’t.

Off to the best back street boozer I know. The Golden Lion in Glebe Street. Sign yourself in time. I actuality drank a lager but in my defense it was rather Germanic. Elsewhere, unforeseen circumstances.

Red Sky and Email Bookings

Signalling problems then led to me a chancing a train I thought I wasn’t going to get. Lots of red sky in the morning and everyone was wearing a mask. First Coffee and Bacon Roll at Costa since I had the car serviced back in August. Lovely aromas. The Gatekeeper didn’t seem to have much of anything in terms of drinks, probably worried about another Fire Break. Also the same issue with the app as in The Queens Hotel. Still nice and relaxing.

Dropped a booking email to Bubs (ex Beelzebubs, ex Small Bar) to book a table for 12:00. I was there on the dot. Very well run, very secure and an awesome range of beers. must return. Pity about the rain.

Garden – October 2020

18/10/2020 Leave a comment
More than halfway through October and there hasn’t been a frost yet. The Cherry Tomatoes have gone but the bigger ones are still there and growing. Just started on digging the garden and the weeds have died back. Ten pots have been filled with new Compost and planted with a mixture of red and white Summer Onions. The lawn has been mowed and feed and the hedge still has most of its’ leaves but they are turning yellow quickly. Planning Garden 2021. Happy gardening.

Garden – September 2020

The Summer was odd but with September we have Autumn and Autumn is as it should be. Much cooler nights which mean that the bush Tomatoes that have died back. More rain and the odd Indian Summer day. I’ve caught up with mowing the lawn but it still needs feeding. Lots of Cucumbers and the excess Blue Danubes from last year need lifting. Summer Onions are on order and will arrive later this month. Already planning 2021 gardening.

Garden – August 2020

2020, the year with Spring and Summer swapped. August so far has had Heatwaves and Thunder and Lightning. The plus side was the watering can was deployed less.  All the bagged Potatoes, both Red Duke of York and Blue Danube have been eaten, well as chips. There may be some left in the bags but I need to empty them out to see. After much waiting, the cherry Tomatoes have gone from green to red and they are lovely to come home too. I have also grown two Cucumbers, yet to eat however. The lawn hasn’t been mowed as much as it should, mostly due to the incessant rain. Summer is a strange thing.

Go Early and Avoid The Queues

The first Emergency Beano since the lockdown. It’s a Thursday so it’s a #CurryThursday and it drizzled. Just to Caerphilly as it’s still a bit tricky on the buses, however everyone wore masks. First in the Malcolm Uphill and the cask was all Welsh despite being somewhat limited. There were still queues mid morning to get into the Malcolm Uphill despite it not being a Rishi day. Filled my boots with a Jalfrezi and then caught the bus home. It was still drizzling then.
