Garden – December 2020

Another three frosty nights, just like last month but really mostly rain. Not much in the way of growth although the lawn is still very green. May need to get some more Onion sets over the Christmas seed sales as a couple have failed to germinate. Black Friday Seed Sales are now a thing even if they haven’t been dispatched yet. Working on what Seed Potatoes for 2021. Maybe planting then in Pots and Bags again. Emphasis on Chips as you would expect. Merry Locked Down Christmas.

It Ended With The Blues

So the pubs close at 18:00 on Friday (mostly) without a vote and ignoring the science. Safer in the pub than in work.  Prebooked into Bubs with a sour tap takeover from Cascade Brewing (Oregon). So Costa, with points. The Central Bar with a Scottish Cask Ale. Poundland for cheap Christmas lights. The Head of Steam for a live Untappd Sherbet. Then Bubs, where Stevie Ray Vaughan was playing when I arrived.
Superb, safe afternoon with a little Classic Rock as well. Probably the last Emergency Beano of 2020. Rained.

Beer and Genius

There was rain, lots of rain. A RTA on the way to the Station and a Coffee and a Bacon Roll in Costa. The Central Bar for The Saturday Wrap. Then off to the Apple Store. Cardiff rather packed with Christmas Shopper. Also packed with Rugby Fans. Managed to get into The Old Arcade where I was informed there wasn’t Cask Brains Dark since the first Lockdown.
And next door into Bubs Cardiff. A prebooked three hour slot and some awesome ales. Web App to the fore. I wonder how the non announcement, announcement will affect them.

While I Still Can

It was the last day of my June Beano, you know the one that was deferred until November. Later buses and better weather. Costa now do seat delivery. The Central Bar is now plexiglass central and who knew that the Queen’s Valults opens at 10:00.
It is also just across the corner from BrrwDog Cardiff. Nice app and web app. Lots of issues with my password, however once in it became sour Monday. There is a Monday discount along with my equity for punks discount. Some samples out of the blue and it was a great Monday. Now let’s hope Mr Drakeford doesn’t do a Mr Johnson!

Garden – November 2020

Well since last month the have been three frosty nights but mainly it’s been mild, rainy but mild. Not much going on in the garden, mainly due to the rain. However, weeds are being killed, the lawn was mowed and now has Weed and Feed on it and the Summer Onions are still coming on well. Digging still planned but as it’s getting near Christmas, planning for the seeds and sets is in full swing. Happy Foggy Gardening.

Cold Pubs and Buses

It’s the little things that matter, like being on the 50 bus, travelling towards Newport in the dark. Costa Coffee and Bacon Rolls and sitting in the corner in Pubs. Some things are still different, Pubs and Buses are cold, doors and windows are off to provide fresh, non stagnant air. Places open later because more people are working from home and there are less frequent buses and trains.
Christmas trees are be put up all over and our leaders are deciding what the actual cost will be.  Me I just thankful for Beanoing.

Safer In The Lion

Train delays that this time did not work in my favour. Lot’s of weather but relatively mild for November. You can’t beat a Costa Coffee Bacon roll and that plus a Cappuccino is a great start to the day. Another Spoons, another sign in. NHS or fill it in yourself, I choose the later. The rest was app based. Almost came away with a raffle ticket for a Big, Big Ted but didn’t.

Off to the best back street boozer I know. The Golden Lion in Glebe Street. Sign yourself in time. I actuality drank a lager but in my defense it was rather Germanic. Elsewhere, unforeseen circumstances.

Red Sky and Email Bookings

Signalling problems then led to me a chancing a train I thought I wasn’t going to get. Lots of red sky in the morning and everyone was wearing a mask. First Coffee and Bacon Roll at Costa since I had the car serviced back in August. Lovely aromas. The Gatekeeper didn’t seem to have much of anything in terms of drinks, probably worried about another Fire Break. Also the same issue with the app as in The Queens Hotel. Still nice and relaxing.

Dropped a booking email to Bubs (ex Beelzebubs, ex Small Bar) to book a table for 12:00. I was there on the dot. Very well run, very secure and an awesome range of beers. must return. Pity about the rain.
