20221003 mb10 Day 04 Wrap
Up, Bath, go back to bed, things, go back to bed again. Who knows? Late start and there are Squirrels everywhere. Port Stout in The Regal, where the three planes have gone. It’s only King Kong left now. Lots of Politics going on. The first time I have seen 5G Tesco (O2) and it’s in the centre of Gloucester. The Turks Head, cash only but a winner. No WiFi, great Land Lady. Faster WiFi and a great selection of Fine Ales, then it’s @thepelicanglos for you. Vodafone and Three to merge?

Sunday morning in Spoons, watching the world go by and catching up on things. All day brunch. A gentle end to OktoberfestGloucester 2022. A Winter Beer Festival in February? Premiere Elements 2023 woes. The cold is back.

Sometimes tech means you have more to do than without it. Costa prices go back to normal. Re upped DTNS on Twitch with Prime. Why don’t bars open the same time as places open? Still Coffee comes to the rescue. Running out of Festbiers. Saturday was packed out, there was a guy with a guitar. Still no salt and vinegar for the chips.

The Hat, the Gentle Mist, The Severn Pea Souper and The Firm Alarm evacuation on arrival. Cheaper Costa Meal Deal and a morning in The Lord High Constable of England. A QR, A Glass, A Geography Lesson then a HotDog with Sauerkraut. These and poor weather are what Mini Beanos are all about. Very Good Times.
The First Hat Wearing Since 2019
The first Gloucester Oktoberfest since 2019 and the hat is back in action. Apart from the peasouper on the Severn Bridge there were pretty patches of mist on the way to Gloucester. Someone, blow drying their hair set the Fire Alarm off at Premier Inn Gloucester Quays. Costa Coffee and The Lord High Constable of England for the Prelude. It rained, the Internet went down in Warehouse 4 but I had a positive attitude and genuine Okoberfest Biers. Back tomorrow and Sunday for more, also I had Chips and Sauerkraut.
20220930 Prelude mb10 Gloucester Sep 22
The months finally catch up with the mb numbers, well at least from the second day. Back to The Gloucester Brewery Oktoberfest for the first time since 2019 and yes I will be taking my hat. Three days of Festing then two days in The Pelican and yes lots of Tech. Late in, a blow dry hair fire alarm start.

Maybe the slowest Ultimate WiFi ever. However Premier Inn all you can eat Breakfast with real Toasters. The Joy of the superior Wetherspoon’s Aircon and their WiFi for that matter. Are there ghosts in the flushing mechanism of the Wetherspoon’s toilet? Or just that the sensor is in the wrong place? Across the road in The Punch House and it’s Beavertown. The Robin Hood was a Pub come pile it high carvery and the Green Dragon was a classic Sky Sports on Sunday go to and it’s only guest ale was DoomBar. Monmouth, you were nice but not really a beer town.
A Gentle Sunday
Step out of the Premier Inn and the cool of the morning is instant relief. Also so is the Aircon in Spoons. An old favourite, Hazy Jane from BrewDog is an excellent start to the day. Across the road in The Punch House and it’s Neck Oil from Beavertown, FTTC too. The Robin Hood, almost a Carvery but the LandLord had seen better days. Where can you get good, not even great LandLord nowadays? Question, does live Football make up for DoomBar being your Guest Ale. These are the questions!

With the new Energy Cap, this is the first of the austere Beanos, only 34 miles from Home. It’s Monmouth. Mist patches on the way up. Really fast WiFi in The Kings Head (Spoons). Luma Fusion, Royalty Free and noted on YouTube. The Griffin, tables on the payment and lively Untapped Ales. The Old Nags Head. Premier Inn WiFi Ultimate isn’t.
Orion and Austerity
Times are hard and getting harder. So the Beano, closer to home and monitor the hotel prices to get the best deal. Orion in the East as the Sun comes up. A twilight and sometimes misty journey to Monmouth. Spoons opens at 07:00 as it’s a hotel and it was 4 Lattes as I battered Luma Fusion and Tweetbot. The Griffin was a revelation as I drank two Untapped Fine Ales in the strong late Summer Sun. The Old Nags Head, a classic name for a Pub and the Butty Bach went down a treat. Make the most of it while you still can.
