Garden – October 2022
An early morning update just as British Summer Time slips out of the door and Greenwich Mean Time comes in to replace it. The Tomatoes have gone. I had my last Strawberry just the day before and I did with the last Pepper. My one and only Cucumber is still growing. Growing amongst the Mint. There are still some Red Spring Onions growing and the lawn is now getting covered with leaf fall. However, on the growing front, due to the exceptionally mild October my Summer Onions are growing well. Especially the white. I am still lifting Desiree, which have thrived in the small black plastic Potato bags. Still no frost.
Bristol Beer Factory Tap Takeover Tiny Rebel Newport
A rainy start as you would expect in Newport. Getting there early to get some pre opening (11:00) training in. Well, at 08:10 there was cleaning going on at Tiny Rebel’s Newport Bar but no sign of any Bristol Beer Factory Ales. So onward to The John Wallace Linton for some training.

Update on why the iPad Pro’s front camera is still on the portrait side. Meanwhile, on Saturday, it’s still going strong at The John Wallace Linton, In Newport. A touch of Tiny Rebel Cask from the Newport Bar to finish.
Garden – September 2022
Post Equinox and the nights are getting colder. With what little rain we have had the lawn is definitely looking better. Some of the older Strawberry plants are dying back but those I planted this year are still doing well and producing fruits. The Lettuce are dying back and going to seed. They garden has gone crazy with now red Tomatoes and I think they will be around until the first frost. I still have some potatoes in the little black plastic bags. I thought that they wouldn’t be very good but they have been a revelation with much bigger crops than the bigger bags. It will soon be winter and the process will start all over again.

Raisin Saddles at Weird Dad Taproom
I met Mr Weird Dad, not weird at all. We talked Beer, specifically Greek IPAs. Which is rather novel. Excellent Beer naming and so Autumnal weather outside. It was good times.
Garden – August 2022
August was more heat warnings, more rain, more Thunderstorm warnings and most recently, a drought warning for the whole of Wales. Potatoes, I’ve eaten most of the early Casablanca and I’m now starting on the maincrop Desiree. Finally my tomatoes have started to turn Orange and Red after spending weeks on just being Green. No sign of any of the cucumbers yet, however I have some Peppers albeit still green. The Strawberries are still coming and will do until the first Autumn Frosts arrive. The month ahead (September 2022) will be bringing the harvest home. And the Summer just rolls away.
20220828 mb09 Day 02 Wrap
Maybe the slowest Ultimate WiFi ever. However Premier Inn all you can eat Breakfast with real Toasters. The Joy of the superior Wetherspoon’s Aircon and their WiFi for that matter. Are there ghosts in the flushing mechanism of the Wetherspoon’s toilet? Or just that the sensor is in the wrong place? Across the road in The Punch House and it’s Beavertown. The Robin Hood was a Pub come pile it high carvery and the Green Dragon was a classic Sky Sports on Sunday go to and it’s only guest ale was DoomBar. Monmouth, you were nice but not really a beer town.
A Gentle Sunday
Step out of the Premier Inn and the cool of the morning is instant relief. Also so is the Aircon in Spoons. An old favourite, Hazy Jane from BrewDog is an excellent start to the day. Across the road in The Punch House and it’s Neck Oil from Beavertown, FTTC too. The Robin Hood, almost a Carvery but the LandLord had seen better days. Where can you get good, not even great LandLord nowadays? Question, does live Football make up for DoomBar being your Guest Ale. These are the questions!
