Garden – May 2021
April was cold and dry and it delayed most of my planting. The things that were planted, mostly the Premier in bags haven’t been damaged but their growth has been slowed. The end of April and into May has been changeable but still cold. My replacement Strawberry plants arrived and are now growing if somewhat slowly.
One Friday in April it was raining so I put the weed and feed on. Two problems, I put too much on and it immediately stopped raining. Repairs are plan for May Day Bank Holiday Monday. All the holes in the garden are now filled Premier and Blue Danube. The rains came and the garden is now completely covered in weeds. When the potatoes push through it will be all out weeding.

Garden – April 2021
The weather in March was all over the place, including the hottest days of the year so far. There was also frosts and some very rainy days. The lawn was patched and despite it saying germination with four days it took a fortnight. My Strawberry plants are rather sparse, so new ones are on order. I was hoping to put them in over Easter but they haven’t arrived, which is just was well as the overnights have been rather cold and getting colder and frostier. I have 22 McCain Premiere First Early seed Potatoes in, both in containers and bags. The rest are currently waiting to go in due to the impending frosty weather. Looks like it will be mid April before they go in. However, the holes for them in the garden have been dug and it will just be a question of popping them in, covering them and giving them a good watering. Much planting as soon as the weather turns warmer.
Garden – October 2020
Garden – September 2020
The Summer was odd but with September we have Autumn and Autumn is as it should be. Much cooler nights which mean that the bush Tomatoes that have died back. More rain and the odd Indian Summer day. I’ve caught up with mowing the lawn but it still needs feeding. Lots of Cucumbers and the excess Blue Danubes from last year need lifting. Summer Onions are on order and will arrive later this month. Already planning 2021 gardening.
Garden – July 2020
June was a lot like April with lots of mixed weather and the start of July has been similar. However, I have saved on the water meter and the now fed lawn has turned green. So far, food eaten from the Garden, Strawberries, Mint, Lettuce, Red Duke of York (chipped), Spring Onions and Senshyu Yellow (Summer Onions). Weeding like the wind, as you would expect. I have some small Tomatoes but they are still green. Hoping they turn read soon. Lockdown easing.

Garden – May 2020
Happy that the fence is back up but it really needs painting. Lots of weather both a heatwave and lots of rain. Frost returning in w/c 10/05/20 according to Derek The Weather. Getting compost has been difficult but Aldi has rescued me a number of times. Whilst food shopping, not on a separate journey. The Blue Danubes (maincrop) have finally pushed through and the Red Duke of York have started to flower. Indoor Spring Onions and the outdoor Summer Onions are coming on well. Lettuce (mixed) are making good progress and the indoor seedlings – Tomato, Peppers and Cucumbers are all to schedule. I think there will be Strawberries by the beginning of June. The weeds, well they seem rather weed killer resistant. Staying safe.
