Prelude – Beers Of The Beano – Saturday 08 November 2025
The rewiring is going to take until Wednesday, so it’s not a weekend job. I will soon be testing a Daily Tech News Show Pint Glass. The external Cask Ale question and wearing my Poppy with Pride.
Around the corner

Prelude – Beers Of The Beano – Saturday 12 April 2025
A sunny start to the day but the weather is on the change and not for the better. Caerphilly has a food festival and the Main Street is closed. Chaos for the buses. Malcolm Uphill AM and The Project PM.

Frosty Saturday Beano Training
Another Saturday morning, another late April frost. Off to Caerphilly for an #mb05 training session.

Caerphilly is lovely, especially with the Castle but Oh, the litter, it’s everywhere. Never mind, it’s on to The Malcolm Uphill with my CAMRA 50p voucher in my hand.
So next weekend it’s both days with Premier Inn, all you can eat breakfasts. So I’m also getting in training for that. Asked for extra butter than was cold and got it too. The cold butter is so much better.
Then on to Brew Monster Caerphilly. A brew house and much faster WiFi then The Malcolm Uphill. On the Mezz for the first time ever.

Quality brews, brewed on site and now some rather good guest brews including from The Vale of Glamorgan Brewery

Solid training with fast Brew Monster WiFi and I ended up rather sleepy.

It’s Guidance not Law
England has Plan B and Wales has Political Banter and a vague mask mandate. Caerphilly, Pontypridd and Treforest. More Festive Ales with silly names. Making the most of it while I still can.
Without a Bridge
A good start to the Beano with two unique pints in the Malcolm Uphill. Classic Public Service on the Stagecoach bus to Pontypridd. A great pint of Digger’s Gold by Grey Trees in The Rickards Arms in Treforest. Cask rising no doubt? Swarm App told me that I hadn’t been in The Otley Arms since January 2020. I raised a glass from Polly’s Brew Co to an Absent Friend. No Apple Pay but I’m coping like the wind. A great day and now with Tesco sarnies to finish.
